Aight, I skimmed through this thread. And I hurried through the blog too. My wife might re-enter the room at any moment ;-)

OP, people who are worth knowing are going to make decisions about you based on what you do. That you are competing (in Highland Games or whatever else) at all speaks volumes. People who make decisions about you based on how you look are, well, ummm, err, not worth knowing really.

It's what I tell my daughters anyway.
