Sporron positioning question?

I have a question about how to wear the sporran also. When I first started to wear a kilt, not all that long ago, I was told to wear the sporran 3 finger widths below the belt buckle. I see here that most people say it should be about a hands width below. Is 3 fingers below the buckle wearing it too high???

No, not if you're comfortable with it at that height. The "3 fingers" and "hand" are just rules of thumb, so to speak.

It depends on anatomy and what you are doing.

Men are not all created equal. There is no aspect of clothing that we will all agree on. And so it is with sporran height. What works for one will not work for another.

When I am Scottish Country Dancing, the jigs and reels can cause a lot of sporran bounce (which can be quite painful). I often start the night with my sporran lower, but adjust it up during the dancing, only to lower it again for the journey home.

From pictures I have seen, there is nothing wrong with your sporran height.

Too true. I find that I have two sporran heights. One for more active endeavors and one for more docile. It really doesn't take much to adjust, but if I were not able to make adjustments throughout the night I would elect for a slightly higher position that did not interfere with my moving about freely.
