In MacLeay some of the subjects appear to be wearing Argyle style jackets, are these still considered fancy?
I did read through that post and one of the things I took away was that one of the things to consider is how the guests will be dressed. While there does seem to be some wiggle room for the Wedding party to be a little dressier than the guests, I don't want to stray several measure from what is likely to be the common denominator.
I believe when Figheadair says "fancy dress" he is using it to mean costume or costumey. It's a British term.
