If you're wanting the Hutcheson tartan, I thinking it's going to be a custom weave, as it doesn't seem be be available commercially (hence the high price).
USA Kilts (11 yard minimum and includes the cost of the kilt) or ScotWeb (minimum order of 4 meters @ $109/m for the fabric alone) can arrange it for you. Both are advertisers on this forum.
Alternatively, if you know which part of Scotland your family is from, you might consider a District tartan, which would likely be easier to come by.
