I don’t have a doublet, but on all of my Argyll jacket/waistcoat combinations, all of the decorative buttons (epaulets, cuffs, pocket flaps) are of the smaller size. Only the jacket closure buttons are the larger size.

In the photo of the doublet, the buttons on the cuffs and tashes seem a bit outsized to my eye, but you may well disagree.

I took a cue from McMurdo’s Wildcat tartan kilt suit and had my tartan Argyll/waistcoat set up for interchangeable buttons, so that I could wear antler buttons for daytime or more casual events, and the traditional square silver buttons for dressier occasions. Perhaps something to consider.
