My first non-tartan traditional kilt was in black barathea - that was seven years ago. Now I have four black fabric kilts (plus one in black PVC and five in black leather!) one of which is the 'Hidden Tartan', similar to 'Black Isle', which came, like yours Ado from The Highland Store in London.

Black is an excellent choice for a non-tartan kilt because it can be so successfully dressed up to the nines formally or dressed down for the most basic of casual events.

Congratulations Ado, and welcome to 'X Marks the Scot'.
