I got my last phone by the same loophole with cingular. I know have a SLVR with the Itunes and love it but I was never addicted to anything on my blackberry. It only holds 100 songs but so much better than having to carry a phone and Ipod around at work. Plus when it rings the Ipod pauses, I dont have to take out my ear buds, and starts back up after the call.

Those are pretty neat (SLVR.) But, I really can't ever see going without my Ipod. I don't mind carrying it around extra. I've the 30g video... so I have my entire music collection, and a bunch of Southpark and Reno 911 episodes in my pocket. That new Iphone looks nifty. But, ultimately, the Blackberry fits what I want. The winner in it for me is the QWERTY keyboard/sms/web capability/email programs.

Man, I am so glad that I don't embrace technology.
My cell phone is just that, a cell phone. Apparently it can do text messaging and such, but I have no idea how, nor the desire to learn. The only reason I have it is for emergencies. In fact, it's rarely turned on.
If I want to listen to music, I'll sit at home in front of my stereo system, or listen to the stereo in my vehicle.
If I want to take pictures, I'll grab my camera.
If I want to email someone, I'll sit at the computer. The internet is addictive enough when I'm at home...I don't want to have access to it everywhere I go.

Besides kilts my other addictions are DVDs, ornaments and fridge magnets...

Oh no. Fridge Magnets? I thought I was the only one who did that. I get one everywhere we go on vacation. The cheesier the better and then I cover the metal bits of my office cubicle with them. Too tacky for words. It's great.

You're not alone. It's the only critical purchase while on vacation. The refrigerator door sags from the weight of them all including a full map of the Caribbean. ("Hey! Who moved Aruba? It belongs over here. )
Fortunately for my pocketbook, my other obsession is slide rules and, unlike electronic gadgets, they don't come out with new models of those any more.

I am not big on camera on the phone. I can easily live without it. But I can't live without email/yahoo messenger on the go.

Me too, Al. I am computer illiterate and frequently have to seek help with my PC.

You are a man after my own heart! I resisted for years but was finally persuaded that these things are a good idea when one is out in the car alone, and so I bought one last year. I still do not know how to use it properly - even to make calls - it is permanently switched off and I never think to take it with me when I leave the house! As for the camera and texting thingies, forget 'em!

Yes, me too. Several friends have tried to explain I-Pods, etc. to me, but I still do not understand why anyone would want to play music or speech when out in the beautiful countryside with nature's gorgeous soundtrack, or when walking along crowded streets. I do have a Walkman (radio and cassette player) but use it about once every three years when I'm in bed with 'flu !!

That's what I do too.

I am so with you on this, Al. (I really should not be sitting here now when I am surrounded by chores crying out for attention!)
It is SO comforting to know that I am no longer alone in this world!
