modern kilt outfit...any ideas?

Dammit. I wanted to see if someone would call me out for saying embrace your inner freak and wear what you want, but don't do the following...

All I got was a light mocking.

I have certain prohibitions in life. I don't eat organs of any sort, I don't gamble or drink anything alcoholic that is neon colored, or has a magical, violent or sexual name. Formerly, I wouldn't wear sandals with socks under any circumstances. But my wife is asian and after a while it just becomes sort of normal to put the flip flops on over the socks to go out to the car or something like that.
