I feel the same way. I don't care what other people wear, but for me, it has to be my family or a universal. The good thing is that it keeps me from buying tons of kilts. The bad thing is that there are some very nice tartans out there that I wouldn't mind owning.
That being said, if a friend of mine was getting married in a kilt and I was part of the wedding party, well obviously I would then have no choice then to buy another family tartan so we would all match. Too bad I don't know of anyone who isn't already married or won't get married in one. Oh well.
