I asked if I could wear it one Friday. On fridays in summer, shorts are allowed by my company!! But kilts are "not included in that". What annoys me more than the fact that I'd be much more sensibly dressed than most everyone else, was the fact that the Dress Code states that for business casual: "pants, dressed or skirts are to be worn." It also says that everything worn must be "appropriate". I don't consider the kilt to be a skirt generally, but if you get down to it, it is one. And the dress code is not gender specific. Since the kilt is a "skirt" made for men and therefore very much "appropriate" for me to wear, I don't see how I could be denied by their own rules. But the HR department is hell-bent on stamping out fun at all times; logic doesn't stand a chance. Plus, there's no job security where I work, so I'd rather not create a "stir".

On the upside, all my co-workers (Germans, Hispanics and Americans) were disappointed. Jovi said she wanted to get all her friends to wear in Sombreros one day and Heidi suggested the germans all wear dirndls and lederhosen, to protest the inability to display cultural pride! haha, having great co-workers is far too often underrated!

I will definitely be at the Williamsburg Games (though they aren't in Williamsburg or James City County this year, so I'll have to drive a little)
And I'd love for there to be another Tidewater kilt night, so I could make it!
