I've been offered freshly sheared wool, somewhere between 2-7 "bags" of it..(I don't know how big a bag is). This is right off the sheep.
I could clean it, card it, spin it, dye it, weave it, and make a kilt out of it.

Uhhhhhhhhhh...that is, if I wan't doing anything else for the next four months!

Or you could clean it, card it, spin it, dye it and then knit it. Possibly hose or some kind of 'Fairisle' type jumper. Something to while away those lonely winter nights. And then come the Spring you would have a real conversation starter.

I have a few hats that my wife has made that are like that. She got the wool right from the sheep and did all the work to a finished product.
Needless to say, they are amongst my favorites.

I bought her a second spinning wheel a year ago with the intention of having her teach me to spin.
Still haven't touched the blasted thing.
I will have to get her to give me lessons this winter.

If it's the modern sort of sack used by sheep farms, they're about seven feet tall, and 30 inches or so in diameter. They hold a couple hundred pounds of wool (unwashed, so less once it's washed.). Some farms use presses to compress the wool, so they're heavier. Of course, they might just be grocery bags.

"Baa baa, black sheep, have you any wool? Yes, sir, yes, sir three bags full. One for my master, one for my dame, and one for the little boy who lives down the lane"
I suspect those bags weren't that large, given they all came from the same sheep.

Alan-you can beat this addiction to new hobbies. As soon as Jamie figures out how, I'll let you know!

 Be well,

Not necessarily. "Sheep" can mean one, or it can mean a whole flock of the things. I would doubt they would be wool bags, though, which, as has been said, will hold many fleeces.

I still have a bag in the attic (small one - just one fleece) which someone gave my daughter for 'projects' still to come. Seems like med school and practice got on the way of her spinning and weaving. Can't imagine why. Oh well, it will keep.

If you don't spin or weave you could make hats by felting the wool. I have done this with alpaca wool. Or you could sell it in small lots.
