Yes, its a World Cup qualifier. If Scotland did win their group and thereby gained entry into the 2010 World Cup there would be a lot more kilted travellers.
Yes I have noticed the trend towards kilted guys wearing caps with feathers, I counted five feathers on the cap of one guy I spotted on Edinburgh's Royal Mile on the Sunday of the Edinburgh gathering.

I'm sure that's English, but I couldn't understand it to save my life!

I saw about four guys with feathers, none with more than three. Another thing is that almost all of the guys in "pub kilts" (mostly of the royal stewart and pride of scotland persuasion) were wearing them well below the knee. I guess "the rules" don't apply for sporty wear.

I suppose i wouldn't really know what feathers they were, they might even be nylon for all I know. They looked too brown for pheasant or peacock, though, and too long for buzzard. But I'm no ornitologist.
