Invasion of the scots
Apparently there's a football match (that would be soccer to the Americans) between Scotland and Norway today. I don't get the point of football, but it seems enough scots do! Oslo is full of kilted gentlemen. Almost half of them wearing royal stewart, btw. And quite a lot of eagle feathers going on too, to my great surprise. Maybe some of these kilted guys are x-markers?
Oh, and if ever you want to play your bagpipes in the Botanical gardens again, please tune your pipes as a personal favour to me. You're right outside my window, and those drones could sure need a tweak...

Yes, its a World Cup qualifier. If Scotland did win their group and thereby gained entry into the 2010 World Cup there would be a lot more kilted travellers.
Yes I have noticed the trend towards kilted guys wearing caps with feathers, I counted five feathers on the cap of one guy I spotted on Edinburgh's Royal Mile on the Sunday of the Edinburgh gathering.

Reason: spelling

![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif) I have to agree with you, the pipes are best heard from at least 100 yards away, somehow, to my ears, the notes seem much more pure.![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Eagle feathers are not that common, not rare though, so I doubt that some of the Tartan Army are wearing them. Buzzard, pheasant, peacock wing feathers would be more likely. Sorry football is not for me, so I am not there!Honest!

I'm sure that's English, but I couldn't understand it to save my life! ![Embarassed](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
I saw about four guys with feathers, none with more than three. Another thing is that almost all of the guys in "pub kilts" (mostly of the royal stewart and pride of scotland persuasion) were wearing them well below the knee. I guess "the rules" don't apply for sporty wear.![Confused](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
I suppose i wouldn't really know what feathers they were, they might even be nylon for all I know. They looked too brown for pheasant or peacock, though, and too long for buzzard. But I'm no ornitologist.

I was myself part of a kilted invasion of Bergen in June - an invasion of one! ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
There has been coverage on the BBC news of the bekilted streets of Oslo and Aftenposten also has some photographs online.

It's generally not a good idea to go around taking pictures of strangers on the street, is it?
I've tried finding some pics online, but haven't had much luck. Maybe McClef can link to the pics he found?
Oh, and apparently "we" won. Yay.
