I don't mean to tell you what, or not to wear,or how to spend your money, so I hope you will not take offence at my question. Do you really need a fly plaid? They are not what I would describe as essential kilt attire and as you mention that dreaded word "budget", I do wonder whether you will really need a fly plaid?

The mini fly plaid looks like a scarf to me.

I agree, although it's more open in the part that hangs down the back and tighter more "scarf" like for the part that fits under the epaulet on the jacket.

Montgomery Modern is available from both Lochcarron and the House of Edgar. What fabric was used for your kilt?

    16 oz. Woven Acrylic Fiber.

I know, I know, but for $91.00 It's one of the few I have found that I can afford.

Purchased from The Frugal Corner. DO MOT BUY CLAN ITEMS FROM THEM YOU WILL NEVER GET THEM. I'm still waiting for my kilt pin and cap badge to show up, it's been over a month now.

No offense taken, No I don't need it, I just think it would finalize my Prince Charlie Tux outfit., That's why I prefer a mini as it's not as bulky.

As for a full fly I think it looks nifty with the old style shirts. Kind of like a cape.

Sadly the Montgomery tartan isn't in mass production for anything but kilts right now.
