No offense taken, No I don't need it, I just think it would finalize my Prince Charlie Tux outfit., That's why I prefer a mini as it's not as bulky.

As for a full fly I think it looks nifty with the old style shirts. Kind of like a cape.

Sadly the Montgomery tartan isn't in mass production for anything but kilts right now.

The cost seems very reasonable to me. Good luck in your search

I agree, although it's more open in the part that hangs down the back and tighter more "scarf" like for the part that fits under the epaulet on the jacket.

			Practicality vs. Intangibility

While Jock Scott is correct in writing that a fly plaid is not "essential kilt attire", I can only give you the reasons I bought one for my kilt.
I like the way it looks - like a cape (as you mentioned) casually thrown over your shoulder in an insouciant sort of way and always ready, if you should need it (along with your dirk), ;-) and (most importantly for me) the traditional/historical suggestion of the breacan feile, which physically connects us in some indescribable way to our Scottish past.

If you don't mind spending the extra money, go for it! But, as I infer from John Hart's (slohairt) comment, try and find the same weaver who wove your Montgomery kilt, so that the plaid matches your kilt as closely as possible. Good luck in your decision and search.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

 I know, I know,
but for $91.00 It's one of the few I have found that I can afford.
Purchased from The Frugal Corner. DO MOT BUY CLAN ITEMS FROM THEM YOU WILL NEVER GET THEM. I'm still waiting for my kilt pin and cap badge to show up, it's been over a month now.
