"Royal Pride" tartan: wedding or funeral

Considering that Scotland wasn't represented at all at the wedding, I don't really care about "their tartan".

Of note, one of my family tartans, from Grampa Beveridge of Fife (the tartan in my avitar box) was for a wedding...

"The Duke of Fife tartan, first designed to celebrate the marriage of Louise, daughter of Edward VII, to Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife."

... and I think it's rather dark and dreary for a wedding, too.

For a goth wedding it would be brilliant.

But still, I can't help but think that the only thing that tartan is meant to commemorate is the "ring" from the cash register from capitalizing on all the kitsch, worthless junk, and "Made in China" royal wedding memorabilia desperately being hawked to anyone who will buy it in order to make a quick buck while the fad lasts. Not that doing that is wrong with doing that per se, but I just don't subscribe to such shenanigans. It's right up there on par with the Charles & Diana ceramic plates and William & Kate tea cozies... Thanks, but no thanks.

As a result, I can't in good conscience say I hate it... But definitely "meh."

I saw this tartan on the news and the guy said it was done in haste as the weaving/tartan industry was suffering cause of the recession, and they did it to keep the mill going, they did it of there own accord, it was not commissioned by any Royal (but then again I could be mistaken).

Another note: as far as I am aware it hasn't been registered yet, I think its more a commerical than a commerotive tartan.

To be fair, the computer generated image used in another post is not the best reproduction of the colours. I found these on the web. I do think it is a bit bland but not as bad as a mourning tartan.

What I do not understand is that the 2 main blue colours as wriiten by McCalls are only in the stripes and and not base colours.

So you don't think the new title of Earl of Strathearn is Scottish enough?

Or the fact that the lace on Catherines dress depicted Scottish thistles along with the other floral emblems of the United Kingdom?

Understated maybe ... not represented at all .... not so !

and the Wedding Cake had emblems iced over it , including thistles!
