Thanks! Tuesday nights are weapons training classes. On top of the three empty-hand kata I showed videos of, I have a sword kata I have to get nice and crisp. There are no videos of it, however, because it has yet to be committed to video. My sensei has been declare the founder of his own style by the International San Ten Karate Association, and his weapons kata are all his own. The students of the last five years are the first to be "official" students of his style, if you take my meaning. He's got a book coming out in the next year that will outline his style. Essentially he teaches Shotokan on Monday, jujitsu on Wednesday, and on Friday integrates the two. He puts the jujitsu into the weapons training, too, which makes for some really interested pommel strikes. And yes... "obsessive" is a good word. Although I personally like addictive. I think it's more addictive than anything else. I miss a class, and I jones for it! I'm also going to school to finish my teaching degree, and I have to miss Wednesday night classes. I hate it!! Luckily Sensei and I have been friends for much longer than student/teacher, so he just has me come over to his house on Saturday for a drink and some instruction.

If anyone's on Fitocracy, I've created a group called "The Kilt". If you're not on there and are interested, I can probably scrounge some invites...

Re: Fitness Challenge!
Ugh...tried P-90X yoga for the first time in a year last night. We (my workout buddy and I) made it about halfway through before we just couldn't go any more. Maybe we'll try again next week.

Re: Fitness Challenge!
This is the last week of month one on P-90X! I have seen a few inches drop off, mostly from eschewing beer and it's going great. It has really been a motivator to be working out with my buddy John. Knowing that he's pushing himself to the limit on the days when we have to work out separately really keeps me going and makes me work out when I'd rather be lazy. The days when we work out together are way more fun than working out alone. I think I'm going to order a UTkilt to celebrate reaching my first goal...surviving month one! I'll even order it an inch or two too snug to motivate me to bring it even harder.

Edit: It is the last LIFTING week. I still have the "recovery" week to go which is just as hard in it's own way.

I went window shopping for a new sword on Sunday. I found one... She's a beaut. And she's on clearance for $150! Did some research- it turns out she's a damned fine sword for the price point. Now if I can just get my tax return before someone else snaps her up. She will be my new workout buddy.
