I've done a few half marathons in kilts with scrunched down hose and running shoes, or sports socks with running shoes. You will find the sporran needs to be turned round to the side otherwise it will cause discomfort while running.

Suggest you consider using a fanny pack instead of a sporran. And to those in the UK close your mouths, fanny means bum in the US.

It's not like you have to look formal all the time in your kilt. I wear regular socks, hi-tops and T-shirts with my kilt all the time.

I don't think a sporran is good for running, man, just think of what your boys would say!

Yeah, but fanny pack is actually placed in front not in the back.

Yup, that's about the only way you could get me to run, and then only 'till I remembered to "stop, drop and roll", or someone managed to smother the flames using Grant's inflated sense of self-worth.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    Prince John:

    Who says, "poor John"?
    Don't everybody sob at once.

My God, if I went up in flames,
    there's not a living soul...

    who'd pee on me
    to put the fire out.

    Prince Richard:

Let's strike a flint and see.

    Best regards,

For you, Jake I shall make the extra effort. Be advised I have been known to suffer from stage fright though.
