Please do not take this as a slight in any way against Berserk's talent and abilities, but I think you may surprise yourself. I was always afraid of sewing, until I actually started doing it. Ditto with leather work.

I would definitely not call myself talented, and I definitely think our young friend did a very nice job, but at the same time, I'm not going to let the fact that someone else can do it better, keep me from trying, and IMHO, neither should you. (That's meant as encouragement, not a scolding ...)

Now I guess I gotta make that full-mask gator sporran for wearing here in Florida ...

What he said. You never know what you can do till you try. The only thing about leatherwork is that if you really want to get into it it can be quite pricey. Starting out you would at least need a good pair of shears, an awl, some good needles, rotary hole punch. . . the list goes on and on. By the time that you have acquired the tools necessary to make a sporran you could have bought one. The real profit comes from making multiple items and either keeping them for yourself and enjoying the savings, or trying to sell a few to offset your costs. I dont want to discourage anyone from learning leathercraft, I am just relaying my experiences cost-wise.

Very nice work, do you have plans to make more flaps for the sporran, perhaps a Cunningham tartan one?

    B,

Like with anything your work will only improve over time, and this sporran is much better than your first one, the lessons you have leaned in the past and improvements shine through in this fine sporran, great work.

    Very nice! Well done!
I have done some leather work, but have not yet attempted a sporran.

BB, a beautiful job and a great sporran! I particularly like the idea of the removable "organizer". I think it's a great idea and you could eventually construct one that would handle multiple items. Good work!

I happen to think it looks kinda' mafioso, but whatever you say. It was at Easter, so I had to be dressed up!

    Ok, back on topic!
