I got the one in charcoal. After trying it on, I'm thinking it might not even need to be modified for kilt wear.

For $25 I got a vest easily worth three times the price. Anyway, these vests are well worth the cost and I heartily recommend them. If the weather is cool enough I plan on wearing one of them at the New Hampshire highland games at Loon Mountain this weekend.

By the way, the one Target calls brown herringbone is actually black and tan (or cream) and would go just as well with black as brown.

Got one of the charcoal...very nice for the money. Did anyone else notice that they had Royal Stewart neckties as well?

That has been my experience with them as far as ordering online. If the stock is in the store, fine, if not fuggiaboudit. Too bad really, as their mdse seems to be somewhat better quality than Wal*Mart, and they occasionally have a few items that will fit me.

I took a trip to Target this afternoon and found no herringbone vests at all. Blast!!! I noticed that most of the menswear stock still looked like warm weather stuff. I'm going to assume that the fall/winter line hasn't arrived yet at my local store. I'll have to wait a week or so and try again.

They're cheap, reasonably well made, readily available, look good, and could easily be modified for kilt wear. That's why.
Where else are you going to get a fully lined wool/viscose vest for $25?

That says it all for me. I have to admit I don't think I've ever purchased an article of clothing from Target in my life (usually just stick to DVDs) but the price of that vest is fantastic.
