If you are comparing an $80 off-the-peg acrylic kilt to a 16 oz. hand sewn wool traditional, I don't think you are anywhere near apples to apples.
Step up to a $120 Heavy Weight and you will see a tremendous difference in product. Still not apples to apples as it is not made to your measurements and the wool may not be as fine a weave, but for just over $100 US... show me a better kilt at that price point with the same specs.
If spending $700 on a wool hand sewn kilt is what it takes to make you feel properly dressed, go for it. But a Stillwater will do in a pinch for a night at the pub. Realistically, the general public is not going to know the difference, nor care and my hind end will be covered either way.

I don't like the discount store that starts with WAL, I prefer Target and wish I could afford Lord and Taylor. But I don't put down Wal**** or others who choose to shop there. Instead I keep it to myself and shop elsewhere.
That being said, can I have the keys to the wormhole Jerry so i can go back and start Rogaine at about 27?

When you start out it's all about budget - so much to buy and not enough money. Nobody wants to spend £500 on a garment that they might not like and might never wear again. There aren't many people in the world who's first car was a Rolls Royce, but there are a vast number who had a second-hand Mini or a Fiat 500. As an entry level kilt they are not bad.

Well said, Chas.
But back to the original subject, I would like to see the outcome of this experiment!

I'm glad you clarified! I had no idea you were being sarcastic!

A. Being vowed to poverty/frugality/simplicity there is no way on God's green earth that I could justify hundreds of dollars for a Kilt. My flock would see it as a scandalous expense, and besides, my Guardian Angel is a sneak and would tell the Boss.... Stillwater and Frugal Corner are a Godsend for those in my situation.
By all means enjoy your handsewn pure woollen kilts, and more power to you; but let me enjoy what I can afford. Yay SWK & FC!!!
B. A Kilt to Jerry??? Oh no! you will totally destroy the delicate Space/Time continuum, reducing the delivery Fairies & Gnomes into green mush. The entire universe will then swiftly dissolve, imploding on itself to a microcentric point as before God snapped His fingers & created the Big Bang! WE ARE ALL DOOMED!
The Ancient Cosmic Law is: Jerry sends things to us; we do not send things to him the Universe runs smoother that way......
(As you can tell, I've fully recovered - Cancer still all gone )

ahhh but if your flock really loved you they'd all chip in together and get you one...even Jesus wore a seamless one piece tunic, a fine garment for the day

If anyone has seen the new StarTrek movie; that's what would happen if you sent a kilt to Jerry. There would be a tear in the universe resulting in an alternate time/space continum.
DON'T DO IT!!!!
