I'm up for a drink or two. I would show up casual. Kilt, golf shirt and sneakers.

Welcome from Connecticut! My future sister-in-law lives down in Nashville. I'll have to have her keep an eye out for any of the kilted rabble...

I can prove my association by my birth certificate.
As someone who wears the Iowa state tartan, I say you've made an excellent choice! My Scots ancestors settled in SE Iowa in Washington County and then slowly moved Northwest through Knoxville, Des Moines and finally ended up just north of Ft. Dodge.
Welcome from SW "Misery", which is certainly not the great state of Iowa!

I saw the Iowa Tartans in a list of State Tartans. They looked good.
We pronounced it Mizooruh. Only Misery when making fun of some 2nd cousins from near Hannibal

Welcome. I'm a real country music fan and love to chat on the subject. Were you affected by the serious flooding at all? I was at a Gretchen Peters gig here recently and she showed us some photos.

I was very lucky and was not damaged in the flood.
I did get a little water damage from all the rain (the most ever recorded in a 48 hour period).
But I really was not damaged. Shelby Ave which runs in front of the house ran curb deep with water for a while but I escaped that potential problem.
It was bad around town. Opry Mills Mall is still closed. Opryland Hotel will be closed thru October (I have heard)
The city has a goal of having all downtown businesses open by the start of the CMA Music Festival in a couple of weeks.

So I did a little research and found a Freemason tartan kilt which I received a couple weeks ago.
First time I work it out I went to a Target store to pick up a few things (and see if I had the courage to wear it out). I had barely made it thru the door when a young guy approached and said he was glad to see me wearing my kilt. He said he had considered wearing his and wished he had.
He mentioned X Marks The Scot. Y'all have a lot of good info here.
So I have gone kilted a few time when running errands. I have received a few comments, all positive. I do notice a lot of folks looking a me with big eyes. Too funny.
Welcome Welcome Welcome!!! I was that nutty young lad who bowled you over at the door of Target! Glad you made it here! Also glad you've been enjoying your kilt. Nashville has a small but growing population of kilt-wearers so I must say I was delighted to see another kiltie out and about! You mentioned having just ordered, or perhaps hoping to soon order, a sporran and other accessories. You gotten them yet? I should interject that we have a policy here at xMarks of "No picture, Didn't happen". Now, I won't put you on the spot right away (Though the hazing will begin next week! ), but once you learn your way around the forum and get a feel for things, you ought to post a pic or two of your ensemble. You'll find lots of encouragement sprinkled with constructive advice from the members here. We're a tight-knit bunch, gentlemen all, who I believe you'll find most welcoming....
Kilt on!
