    Fashion in the Great Beyond

One of the drummers in our band died of cancer a few years ago. We tried to wait a decent amount of time before collecting the band kit from his widow.

(You're way ahead of me on this one, aren't you.)

Yup. They buried him in the band kilt. And the band sporran, kilt pin, belt, flashes, jacket, and necktie. The bonnet didn't look right with him lying down so that didn't go in. So we got the cap badge back.

Thank God and all His holy angels the drum was too big to fit in the coffin.

    Cheers.

Just be glad it wasn't a piper. Those pipes would have gone in nicely.

Didn't stop my uncles from giving their father the final rest he requested. A good note though. I'll have to have the bereaved sift through for that tag before delivering me to the briny. I can picture it now. "Do you want to pour or sift"?

No siree Bob--I plan on using every bit of this body up before seeing what happens next. Just cremate me, set my urn near the keg, kiss my wife and lift a glass. Remember time catches us all so run hard

I'm reminded of the Country song "Just Prop Me Up Against The Juke Box If I Die" I can't for the life of me remember the artist, but I love the idea. Just make sure I'm kilted.

I think that was by Joe Diffie. We used to play that all the time when I worked with a CW bar band; it's a fun song.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

It may vary by province and may not apply in Lotusland so check out your local situation. Handling a loved one's ashes with a sifter is bound to be emotional- and don't forget they now have those nearly immortal rice grain sized chips they put in pets and everywhere. Big Brother is watching so cover your ash(es).

My father was going to be cermated with his kilt, but the family... "I" said no and his kilt was passed on. I have so many kilts to pass on I will be layed to rest in one of mine. I just havent made up my mind whitch one. I think I'll go with the Great Kilt, I think it will be the biggest pain in the butt to roll me into and fix.

I have donated my body to the Md State Anatomy Board for educational use. After a year, they return the ashes to my family. I'm not going to be in it. Someone should get some use out of the remains.

Thank you Ted. You're right it was Joe Diffie. Still a great song.
