Possible kilt pins
After reading the advice from Hamish, that we not keep changing our kilt pins, for want of damaging the material, I went in search of stuff to use as kilt pins.
I gathered the below, based soley on size and weight and clutch pin back.
What do you think - will any work as kilt pins?

I think all of the Marine Corps insignia and the two wings (Airborne?) work well.. especially on that Leatherneck tartan. You'd get a handshake or two at a Star Trek convention if you wear that TNG communicator

A NUMBER would work, but the matching would have more to do (for me) with the tartan, it's symbolism (meaning/representation/meaning) and colors.
I would pair the symbolism first, then colors. Ideally, both work together.
FOR EXAMPLE: The pictured Leatherneck just SCREAMS for the USMC globe and anchor, in as BIG as possible (as befits a Marine, the few, the proud).

Oh, AND if it's big enough (2-2.5 inch diameter), I'd use the globe and anchor as a "bonnet badge" on an appropriately toned Balmoral!

Thanks Ardchoille and MacWage - Yea - That's pretty much my idea also! I think I will clean up a couple of Marine pins, and put one pretty much permently on all of my USMC Tartans, then I should have enough "traditional" pins for all on the other tartans, short two or so.
But I think Hamish is right - I think I will stop changing the pins around.

Yes, that looks quite nice. In fact, now I want one. Where did you get that pin/crest?

I've been using my ESWS and Aircrew wings as kilt pins with my Navy tartan kilt, and I find they work very well, indeed. I imagine your jump wings would work just as well.

I really like that circular one with the design on it. the white and gold looking one to the right. I think all those would make pretty decent kilt pins, but I really like that one.

I think you are referring to the old, (now retired) U.N. Peace Keeping Force blue beanie badge. They have since changed it to the below, which is still attached to my last beanie.
