Thrift Store Delight
As we all know, every beautiful kilt goes perfectly with a cable knit sweater. Last year I got a light cable knit for myself and one for my sister for $1 each at K-Mart. Today I wondered if the Salvation Army near the seminary would have any decent looking, heavy cable knit sweaters (my old one could be wearing out soon, you know!). SO, when I left school today, I stopped at the SA thrift store, and, to my delight, they had a wonderful looking sweater (cream color) that had never been worn...the store tags were still attached from Lord and Taylor.
Well, seeing as the tag had my boss' name on it (all the ministers and church goers laugh here!), I paid the $10 (even though it seemed like a lot of money for a thrift store sweater, but, hey - it was brand new)and brought the lovely sweater home to meet its new friend the MacArthur kilt.
I had never been to a Lord and Taylor store before, so I just looked it up online. I found the store, then went to the men's sweaters department (the ladies will tell ya...the men's department is ALWAYS the best place to shop...well, almost always!). AND, now I must admit that I am EVEN MORE DELIGHTED with this sweater...what I paid was a proverbial steal! WOW!! I could not believe how much this sweater was worth! DOUBLE WOW! Gotta love a good bargain!

In Beloit, the first Monday of every month is "$1 Day". Yeah, everything is $1.
(Haven't had to go shopping for years).

I love the charity shops. It's funny that I went to St. Vincent dePaul at lunch and bought about 110 knives (some exceptional quality) for twelve dollars. They'd been hoarding them to keep the kids out of them. They had just put them in heavy plastic wrapped bundles of ten. So to keep the kiddies safe I bought the whole box.
Oh, the Salvation Army in Alaska is colloquially as "Sally Annes". Any other cute SA names out there?

How is this for a cute name?
In Wales it's Byddin Yr Iachawdwriaeth - quite a mouthful!

As a fellow bargin hunter I offer a well done to you! Days before our Burns' Night I discovered to my dismay that my tuxedo shirt with pique collar was too worn out to be used. I looked online at uniformalwarehouse but they didn't have the right style. Sighing and resigned to go to Macy's or Men's Warehouse to pay much more that I feel comfortable for a shirt, I decided to stop by my favorite thrift store just in case. Lo and behold there was a perfect condition tuxedo pique front shirt in my size for $3!
You just have to love thrift stores
Cheers
