We're big fans of the series and since the local PBS station delved rather deeply into re-runs, we had the good fortune to have seen a lot of "Foggy" episodes. He was wonderful.
Best

Will be sadly missed by many. Isn't it amazing that such a simple, gentle, kind and funny show could last so long on the air? Makes you have a brighter view of humanity. If only there was more of this to watch...

I remember him as the dim-witted but kind 'screw' Barrowclough in Porridge.

Very sad news indeed, i am a great fan of LOTSW, and 'Foggy Dewhurst' made it for me.
A fantastic, and perhaps, underestimated actor.
Rest In Peace 'Foggy'

He will be missed, l loved him in Porridge also, l still think last of the summer wine is not the same without Compo (Bill Owen).

He hadn't been well enough to play Foggy for some time alas.
His first screen role that I remember was playing a madman in Night of the Demon with Dana Andrews.
He also played the Queen's sadistic rack master in Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson.
So I guess his talent for comedy didn't surface until Porridge.
His repeats outlive him.
