    G'day from Melbourne, Australia

    G'day,

I've posted in the Advice section already with a question about the wearing of my first kilt. (Thanks everyone for your advice). But I thought I'd say 'Hi' here too. I haven't posted much, but I have been lurking and learning a lot. I have downloaded Alan H's X-Kilt Instructions, and with the help of my wife (who is an excellent amateur seamstress), I hope to own a second kilt sometime soon. My wife is currently making a Jacobite shirt for me to wear with it.

I am still very self-conscious about wearing a my kilt. But I'm sure I'll get used to it, and get the confidence to wear it more often.

Another question if I may (just curiosity this time). I was looking at the seam of my kilt (it's an 8-yard knife pleated kilt), and I noticed that the last pleat on the left hand side (just before it becomes the apron) has an extra line of curved stitching (like an additional seam) it runs for the length of the fold. At first I thought it was a mistake, but on further inspection it is obviously meant to be there. So I was wondering; is this normal, why is it there?

Thanks again for a very interesting forum.

Thank you McClef for your welcome. I had a school excursion to South Wales when I was a bairn. (I was born and raised in London.) I remember my visit to Cardiff as being the first time I ever saw a kangaroo. Which has a certain irony as I also lived in New South Wales for a couple of decades.

Sadly, I am yet to visit Texas (a state slightly smaller than the state of New South Wales)

    Cheers!

Thank yous again for your welcome.

Dirk, I love the Guinness avatar. Guinness was the staple diet of my great grandmother, she lived to her 101st year, longer than any of her kin so far. I hope to beat that, with the help of lots of stout!
