    A windy multilingual day

So, the recent storm we had was ushered in by wind, of course. I was outside, kilted, walking the dogs. On the sidewalk ahead of me are two neighbors, women- Marie, from France and Isabel who is from Central America (we have a diverse neighborhood). They are talking to each other. As I am passing them there is a sudden gust of wind- enough to lift the kilt.

Marie shrugs her shoulders and says, "C'est la vie!"

Isabel nods to her, smiles and says, "Se la vi, tambien.!"

    TRANSLATION

    English- "Look it's a ribbon!"
Isabel nods to her, smiles and says, "Se la vi, tambien.!"

So --- that's what all the chatter in the neighborhood was about!

I like Southern Breeze' Translation very much, but the more literal one can be found with a little internet search. Mind you, when spoken, the French and Spanish sound very close to one another (with apologies beforehand to those French and Spanish speakers of varying dialects.)

Oh and stop me if you have heardi it before!

Here's as close as I can get without looking it up.

Marie shrugs her shoulders and says, "C'est la vie!"
English- "That's life!", or"the way it is"
Isabel nods to her, smiles and says, "Se la vi, tambien.!"
English- "I saw it as well! or "also"

I took French, Spanish and German in highschool. I can, after all these years, generally follow a conversation. By that I mean I can understand enough (barely) to get the gist of whats being said.
