Was wondering if anyone in the Dallas area was attending a Burns' Night (in particular the one hosted by The Scottish Society of Dallas, if there are multiple)? I know it's a wee bit early for it, but I was hoping someone could comment on how stringent their dress code is? I know it's "black tie", but I'm hoping what I've got now will suffice.

  • Navy blue PC w/ waistcoat
  • 8-yd 16 oz traditional kilt
  • Black semi-formal sporran with white bovine front
  • Black ghillies, plain coloured hose, matching tartan flashes
  • No sgian dubh at this point but planning on getting one soon (maybe this one)
  • Guess I need a wing-tip shirt and bow tie, too

I just don't want to be the poor chap in the corner everyone is sniggering at
