Maple Leaf PV tartan $15/yd DW on ebay
Found 12oz PV Maple Leaf tartan on ebay for $15 per DW yard if anybody interested. This is about 1/3 what F&K is charging for their 12 oz wool equivalent.

Remember it is an asymmetrical tartan so you have to order the true length you want for your project, split it in half and either use or sell the other half to somebody else who is interested.

Aaarugggg! i really want to get about 8 yards of this tartan. I have drooled over it since I first laid my eyes on it. Shipping is pretty high to the US $8.54 each yard......maybe i will just get 4 yards and make box pleats.....

What is stopping me is 65 % Polyester 35% Viscose. That makes it machine washable which would be great for a box pleated kilt. Anybody have a kilt made from those two ingredients?
I have read that Viscose is great for kilts, but I wonder what it will feel like with the Polyester ????

This mixture is great for kilts: mashine washable, wonderful feel, no itch (I get a terrible itch fromm wool), holds the pleats second only to wool.

That said, I have been pleased in dealing with her. I got a nice piece of fabric, suitable for a skirt---luckily, that's exactly what I wanted! I'll still probably spring for some relatively expensive lining fabric, though. If this PV is like what I have, it'd be nice for a skirt, waistcoat, perhaps a light weight doublet???
For a kilt---yes, I'd buy the wool from Fraser & Kirkbright, in a heartbeat. Note that's $45 Canadian versus $15 US; I'm not sure of the current exchange rate.

I contacted the seller and asked about a better shipping rate and she told me (very kindly) that if I had read the fine print I would see FREE shipping over $100 for US orders or with Canadian orders over $75..........so I ordered 8 yards :0)

I have the Maple Leaf PV in a kilt by our own McHummel, and the Maple Leaf is beautiful in PV. Also, as a Blue Noser, I'm looking hard at the Nova Scotia PV. LOL Might make a dandy 5-yard box pleat! LOL
I'm thinking about getting some to cover a side chair that I have - any of our craftier folks know if this would be a good upholstery weight for an occasional chair that doesn't get a tremendous amount of use, but occupies a prominent place?

I don't think that material is woven where I get mine done if its where I think it is made it is a very lose weave and really isn't that great for kiltmaking
