I'm just ticked off
Ok, I just need to vent to "my people."
I had a bad experience tonight. I was at a local business expo a few miles from home. One of the vendors asked me as I walked by, minding my own business, where my bagpipes were. I told her that though I have the utmost respect for pipers and have even hired one for my upcoming wedding I do not play myself. "Well if you're not carrying bagpipes, you are just cross-dressing aren't you?" ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif) ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif) ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif) ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)
Now I know this lady was obviously just ignorant of the long and honorable tradition of the kilt, but it ticked me off. If she had made her "jokes" and let it be I would have been ok but when she kept going and going, showing off for her co-worker in the booth with her...well you know. Then to top matters she showed up at the restaurant where my family, my fiance, her mother, her nephew, and my daughter, were having dinner. She did not continue her attack because of the lack of audience.
Sorry but I had to vent.

You could've said, "Sorry sir, but I fail to see how that's any of your concern."

You will always encounter people who just don't have social awareness. I know this all too well as my father has this problem. He thinks he is being funny, all the while being completely insensitive. The disconnect is that he has no idea that he comes off so poorly.
Try not to let the comments bother you and just remember that you are always going to interact with people whose heads always seem buried in the sand!

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

She was a vendor at a business expo? Was she the owner of the business? If she wasn't you should contact the business and tell them that you'll do everything in your power to stop people from shopping there because they've hired the worst people in the world.
...hit her in the wallet. That's where most people feel it the worst.
