    Always Nice To Hear :-)

Today I went (kilted of course) for brunch with my lass to the Left Bank Brasserie in San Jose's Santana Row, a place we really enjoy. We both had one of our favorites, the Parmentier de Saumon with grilled salmon, smoked salmon, grilled yukon gold potatoes, red onions, poached egg & hollandaise sauce.

Afterward we strolled along the boulevard, looking through some of the shops. After a bit my lass said she needed to get something from the car, and we agreed to meet at a shop we both wanted to go to. I arrived ahead of her, and as I was browsing around I walked past two women shopping together. One said, "I really like that look!" and the other told me with a big smile, "You look very handsome!".

Later, walking back to the car along the boulevard, we passed a bench where a man and woman were sitting and talking together. As we got up close to them the man was telling the woman, "I really want to get a pair of shorts". (It was a very warm and sunny day today.) A heartbeart after I passed him I heard him say, "Or THAT would work!!".

What made all that especially nice was that I'd been feeling some trepidation about my sporran, a Ferguson Britt beaver fur Glengyle. Last time I wore this one was in Japan in December: I'd never tried it as a casual/day wear sporran and had never worn it around home, and I was wondering whether it might actually get me subjected to verbal abuse. Some might think it takes a pair to wear a kilt in a p@nts-wearing culture; well, it takes bigger ones to wear fur anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.

No problem, though, it was a good day and everything directed my way was positive.

    Hmmm, salmon dish sounds good.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
