The 25th annual Edinboro Highland Games & Scottish Festival
Susan and I had an opportunity to visit the Edinboro Highland Games & Scottish Festival, sponsored by and held at Edinboro University in Western Pennsylvania. This festival had sanctioned athletic, dance and band competitions as well as the national Scottish fiddle and harp championships. I wore my dandelion but did not meet any other 'X Marks the Scot' members. We had a great time and, of course, I took some pictures to share.
This last photo is the Airedale meeting our 8 week old puppy, Faith.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. very nice
Love the shots. I am on two websites that always make me jealous. One is this one because I see posts like this and wish I could have been there and the other is a Yellowstone page on facebook. Seeing pictures of grizzlies, wolves, otters etc and not being there is a bit of a tug at my heart.

Great pics, Nile! Glad to see the younger generations embracing their heritage and/or kilt wearing.

My wife and I were born and raised in New Castle, PA, south of Meadville and just north of Pittsburgh. Though we now live in Delaware, we were visiting friends in Erie, PA and decided to spend a day at the games.
Though not the largest Highland Games we've ever attended, it had plenty to do and see. The setting was the Edinboro University Campus and the events were all sanctioned so there was some serious competing going on.

Thanks, Meal! I see a lot of kilted families at these events. We'll be attending the Celtic Classic in Bethlehem, PA (the largest of these events that we go to) and I expect to see a lot of kilt wearers, young and old. The Celtic Classic is right in the center of the town, very family friendly, free of charge, and it attracts 100,000 people a day.
