It has NOT due to the dates shown, if part was not annexed to the crown in those days it was not part of Scotland, the crown was Scotland .
Note also the crown was King of the Scots, not the Gaels, not the Shetlands. Even today there are Shetlanders and Gael who will quite vehemently state they are not Scots
Well, whomever they are they take great pains to export 'Scotishness' thru varied and sundry economic enterprises supported by Govt. travel and economic departments....and have so for numerous decades.
They've specifically targeted the diaspora in this endeavor to no end.....and do so thru the internet, magazines, TV programs and all/any other means available.
Then some folks accuse us of attempting to steal the Haggis off their own very private plates.
That's a bit of inconsistency to aye?
So, when you do finally control your own Govt., as Alan says you are moving towards, I expect to see all of this exporting kilts/Clan goods and services to come to a screeching halt as most Scots find it to be thievery, or so we are told.
If you do so I'll support your position totally......if not, you are speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
