    2. Someone will add that they never go to places in a kilt when that's likely to happen.
    3. A few people will say it's happened and felt violated.
    4. Someone will remind you to search the archives.
    5. Maybe someone will post a story about what a great time they had when it happened.
    6. A discussion of men's rights involving analogies about sexual harassment will ensue. Someone will add it's not a game.
    7. There will be a discussion of what's worn under the kilt in various circumstances.
    8. Various hypothetical scenarios and aggressive reactions will be described.
    9. Tempers will flare.
    10. The mods will caution
    11. Someone will complain about the mods
    12. The thread will be shut down.

I'm not saying it's not worth discussing for those who are just now getting started with the kilting thing, but this can be a tricky subject.

Really, I think the thing that matters here is how do you think it should be handled? What did you do, and what would you have preferred to do, if you had thought of it.

    Regards,
    Rex.
It sounds like the mods should think about shutting it down right now if all that will take place, but maybe we will get to see it play out still the same.

I did not know what to do and had not ever thought of it happeing so I did not know how to respond. My son on the other hand called them perverted in a loud voice and being only 9 he can be loud. The girls blushed as all attention was turned to them and sulked away.

If I could go back and do it over I might not change a thing.

Well, out of the mouths of babes...

Just for the record, my remarks were not an admonishment of your having asked that particular question. What's a new guy to do, anyway? (#4, I know.) They were honestly directed to no one in particular, and were just my way of saying some care should be taken in how the rabble responds, because we've been down this path before; sometimes the resulting dialog peters out on its own, but other times it ends up in a most unfortunate place.

Anyway, the scenario you described is priceless: the nine-year-old turns the tables. And as you can see, you didn't need to think about or practice anything for it to turn out that way.

As you may have seen already, some people look forward to the experience (they say), and others are weary of it (they say). After so many rounds of this, it often comes to the point where one camp wonders why is the other camp so uptight, and the other camp accuses the first of making kilting a dangerous hobby for everyone. (See steps #5-9.)

But when it comes down to it, it's you who's going to have to assess the situation and decide whether it's welcome or a violation. Everyone's motivations are different, and I wouldn't advise trying anyone else's on for size. Each situation is different. Be genuine, and I think you will find that you will think of exactly the right way to handle each one when it happens.

If not, be sure and have your kid follow you around as your wingman. Sounds like he's pretty good at it.

    Regards,
    Rex.

My mistake, never dreamed before asking that it was as huge an issue as it seems to be. Thank you for your help with it.
